Guest guest
Hi , From what I understand from Dixon, who is a research guru and an absolute fount of knowledge when it comes to statistics relating to all modes of weight loss, be it diets, programs, surgical or medical options, the evidence shows that the weight loss of RNY patients is initially faster than that of band patients, but that at the end of two years the loss is approximately equal, and that after the two year mark the RNY patients ON AVERAGE tend to start to regain weight, while band patients tend to maintain their loss. I stress that these are average figures, and obviously individual experiences in both cases will differ. I am sure you could contact ... he is part of the group at The Avenue in Melbourne... for further information. All the best, . Guest guest
FWTW: I have read the works of Dixon somewhere. I will have to search through my journal. But, the results are the same as mentioned. Why should the obese child be blamed....or the child's parents....Instead I believe it is society at fault....we have received training programs that have help to curve racism, sex discrimination, sexual orientation, and ppl with handicaps....isnt it way overdue for the obese. I think you are of the point of the topic, we are talking about a child who is not fat or not obese BUT!!! seriously in danger, nothing to do with the above statement. melissa.perrow@... wrote: > > , do you have children? If a child is getting obese, a parent does not have to put them on a diet, just introduce lots of fruit and non-fat stuff and find a favourite sport for them. I have three children and I watch their weight like a hawk. None of them are even remotely fat, but they eat all day long on bread, fruit, yoghurt, 2 minute noodles, cheese, sausages etc. Once a week usually on a Friday they get icecream and chocolate. My parents never put me on diet, but limited my intake of fast foods and junk food. I cannot blame them for my obesity in that respect. Parents have a bloody hard job and no matter what the child grows up to be like, they will always have issues with their parents. I rebut that statement...this whole topic began (by myself) because of the way society has reacted to this story....it reminds me of case recently in the usa ...where a mother was prosecuted for the manslaughter because her obese 14yo died of a heart attack induced by obesity....if the topic was annorexia the response would be of compassion & concern...and a willing to assist....this is not the reaction that this story has received by our society....(re: to the radio station) Perrow Market Analyst Market Analysis and Forecasting TXU Networks Level 14, 452 Flinders Street Melbourne 3000 Phone: +61 3 9229 6154 Fax: +61 3 9229 6297 Email: melissa.perrow@... Guest guest
I have been approached by the DON of a Long Term Care unit to coordinate policies and equipment to transition from a total lift to limited or zero lift policy. The DON is concerned about her residents losing mobility, ambulation and transfer ability. Does anyone have any recommendations/advice/experience with this? What type of gait and transfer equipment is best?? I have experience with pediatrics and the use of Rifton gait trainers, etc. I am not experienced with the use of these in a geriatric setting. Any help would be appreciated. le Bohl, PT Rehab Manager County Health Systems This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and are intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to which they are addressed.
