The first week also Lucia's head was soaking wet when I would take

the helmet off. The trick is to take it off and put it back on as

fast as possible. The idea is that, if the head is allowed to cool

down too much, she would have to readjust to it as if she had put it

on for the first time. I used to dry the band first with a washcloth

and place it in front of a fan (which I still use when I wash the

band at night.) Then I would wipe Lucia's head with another

washcloth. Then the helmet would go back on. The entire deal would

not last more than a minute. Fortunatelly for me, Lucia's hair is

very sparse. If your daughter has thick hair, you may want to have

the fan and the hair dryer ready. However, if the hair dryer becomes

an annoyance for her, it is better to have still wet hair than a

nervous baby. Make sure you do everything fast in a relaxed way. Then

kiss her beautiful head and put the helmet back on as if it were the

most normal thing in the world. The stronger you are, the more normal

you consider the helmet to be, the better your daughter will adjust

to it. I know it sounds like Psychology 101, and I apologize for it,

but I did not accept the helmet right away and it was only when I did

that Lucia did too. Hugs,

Valeria
