Guest guest
If you currently have a Clinical/Career Ladder in place for therapy services, I would appreciate knowing. My director has asked me to produce a list of other facilities having one in place, to lend support to our proposal to Human Resources. Thanks! We use them to wipe down all equipment after the patient completes treatment, so free weights, parallel bars, walkers, etc are wiped down each time. The base of the parallel bars is damp mopped daily or more frequently if needed due to " accidents " . Theraband, if used by multiple patients, is sprayed with a disinfectant & wiped down between patients, but the preferred method is to issue each patient their own. Mat tables are covered with a clean sheet for each patient, and wiped down with a sanitizing spray at the end of the morning and afternoon sessions; more frequently if an accident occurs, or an isolation patient has been on the mat. Wheelchairs are covered with a clean sheet for transport but are also wiped down (arm rests, foot rests, seat & back) after each transport. We use the plastic gait belts, so they're also wiped down after each atient plus we make sure there is a barrier between the belt and the patient's skin (robe or second gown). These technizues pass muster with our infection control folks, and with Joint Commission/state DIA as well. I always use the analogy -- would you sit there/use that equipment? If the answer is no, then the equipment has not been properly cleaned.
