Guest guest
I have been asked to post this for a PTManager member. Please respond to the list - not me individually. How are managers serving clients that have Medicare primary with Speech Therapy in a Private Practice PT owned clinic? It is my understanding that Medicare does not recognize this as a billable option. Does the SLP need to acquire his/her own Med B number and bill as a separate entity? Thank you. Guest guest
A PT or an OT can get an individual or group provider number to bill Medicare. Unfortunately this option is not available to an SLP. Speech services must be billed through a " Facility " type setting. This can be an acute hospital, inpatient rehab facility, skilled nursing facility, home health agency, hospice or most often outpatient is done through either a rehab agency or CORF. To deliver speech services would require an arrangement with one of these entities. Potentially an agreement could be made to deliver treatment in your PT outpatient practise by a rehab agency or CORF. There are specific procedures that would need to be implemented but it can be arranged. It may be easier to refer to one of these entities if your volume is not going to amount to much.
