conference and Melb meeting

Hi everyone,

I'm getting a bit concerned about the proposed conference next March. I just

had a look at the responses to the poll, and so far it's basically only the

Melbourne people who have responded that they will be attending. This is

obviously problematic, because if all you guys from interstate aren't

planning to come, there's no point in holding it in the first place. And we

really need to have an indication of probable (or at least possible)

numbers, because the booking can't be held indefinitely without a deposit.

So I am making a plea.... please go to the poll site at

/polls/ozband and register your intention. Nobody's

going to hold you to it, we know it's hard to make a commitment so far in

advance.... but we would love to know the way you're thinking at the moment.

Re the next Melbourne meeting.... can someone please bite the bullet and

make a decision as to when and where we're holding the next meeting? Tues

19th at Aldo's office (thanks for the offer Aldo) without Randall... or Tues

26th at the usual venue with Randall? One point to bear in mind... if we go

with the 26th it will mean only three weeks till the October meeting, which

I've tentatively invited Sutherland to attend. Not a problem as far as

I'm concerned, but it would be a shame if the proximity of one meeting to

the other should mean reduced numbers. So.... let's decide one way or the

other, people. Personally, I'm easy either way, though the 26th would

probably suit me better.

There are 10 confirmations, 2 maybes and 3 negatives so far, I also

assume that Aldo's wife is coming so that's 11 and there are two

others that I know of coming that haven't responded yet. So far it's a

total of 13 coming.

I would assume that we would have at least 30 coming based on our

current numbers (81) so if everyone can vote asap everything can be

organised.
