Guest guest
Hello all- Wondering if you would be willing to share how your organization does billing for acute care in-patient DRG based therapy care? Do you base it on time or service provided? Do you follow an 8-minute rule type guideline (I realize 8-minute rule applies to Part or other time increments? I understand that the " billing " falls under DRG reimbursement rate but want input to assist in tracking process of productivity for the acute therapists. Guest guest
, We bill based on the 8 minute " rule " . It helps to have a framework and to have staff aware of time and what they are billing for. Our billing sheets have the CPT codes on the back side with a brief description of each along with the 8 minute increments broken down for them. I was using these to look at productivity, but it required hand, so I am using a different method now, but it is still based on the CPT codes the therapists bill under.
