Even though false positive HIV test during labour should always be ruled out, it

is that the test should have minimum false negatives. If false negative occurs,

then we might loose a chance of protecting the baby.

If a HIV NEGATIVE mother takes NVP, single dose, it will not have any effect on

her. No chance for resistance of virus also.

It is better to give NVP than to serch for false positive report.
