Guest guest
Loved these. Thank you, Reb! Cheers! n, in Oakland, California kids... We have bought a new computer and are in the (slow) process of wading through everything we have saved on the old computer to make sure the things we still need/want easy access too are transfered to the new computer, and that everything else is properly copied to discs before erasing it from the hard drive (yes, I know the fast way is to just erase the whole thing at once, but that's not how we do things...). And in this process I came across a collection of quotes from a book with kids' quotes (the authors, or rather compilators, of the book have been interviewing kids in day care and primary schools on different subjects and just written down their words of wisdom...). Our pick of the quotes was once done for a family group we have/had on yahoo, and hence the focus in on the subject of family and related matters. Anyway, some of them are really hilarious, and most of them really do translate, so I figured I would share them (or some of them) with you.First, one of my absolute favourites and the one I picked as the most accurate description of my family of origin, always engaging in lively discussion as we are:"In a family you can say exactly what you feel and think, without having to be afraid that someone else will agree" (Håkan, 6 years old)Then the one picked as her favourite, and as somewhat describing her family:"The most important thing is to come from a safe and emotionally unstable home" (Margareta, 7 years old ). s comment: Well, that's us, my home was a very loving and safe one, but we are all a little emotionally unstable in our own special ways...And the rest:On family:"A family dinner is when the whole family is chewing on something at the same time" (Tony, 6 years old)"A family will typically start with your great grandparents and end with you" (Inga, 7 years old)"Many in my family are dead and hanging on the wall" (Tobias, 6 years old)On siblings:"I don't like it when others beat my little brother. That should be my special right" (Nora, 8 years old)"In hard times, when all your parents are against you, siblings can be good to have" (Matilda, 6 years old)"The worst about fighting with your siblings, is that you risk hurting yourself" (, 7 years)On parents:"It's very typical for parents to blame the kids when, for instance, a disaster occurs in the appartment" (Oliver, 6 years old)"Raising kids is one of the hardest things parents can do. Many won't give up until you are 14 or 15 years old" (Tony, 6 years old)"A mum is really just a girl who has happened to grow up" (Annika, 8 years old - the Swedish word for happened to here indicates something not quite meant to happen)"If your parents are very, very angry with you - you could try do what they tell you. For a short while." (Ida, 6 years old)"A legally wedded husband is really a kind of dad. He is just a little newer" (Nelly, 5 years old)On childhood"Childhood memories is something you'll have to carry around your whole life" (Hans, 6 years old)On grandparents, and other old things..."Grandma died before I was born. The poor thing." (Emilie, 5 years old)"My grandparents are rather young. That's because they were children when they were born" (Emil, 7 years old)"In the old days, the men used to have hats. I've seen that on a photography. But nowadays they tend to have cars instead" (Ania, 7 years old)On the world, the universe and the rest:"The world starts in Sunne, where it ends I don't know" (Anton, 10 years old - Sunne is a small town in Sweden)"The universe never ends. Or perhaps it ends by Gods house, right by his fence" (Rasmus, 7 years old)"God made pregnant. Then he took off to heaven and left ph to take the blame" (Moa, 6 years old)....You can't beat the wisdom of a child - can you ; )love/Reb
Guest guest
LOL Very cute. Loved the dead relatives hanging on the wall. Though it reminds me of a goofy song that gets stuck in my head (and my youngest son - , almost 18 - makes sure it's stuck there). "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", by Rolf , all sung with an Australian accent. It's the end of the song that sticks over and over and over and... "So we tanned his hyde when he died, Clyde, and that's 'im hangin' on the shed. All together now!" I liked your favorite, too, Reb. LOLOL Challis kids...
