There is a psychological syndrome called Munchausen's.

People cause themselves (deliberatly) symptoms of

serious illness. When they do it to their children

it's called Munchausen by proxy. They will actually do

great real, physical harm to fake symptoms. They do it

to get attention and sympathy, particularly from the

medical community. These people are often quite

knowledgable and devious. They have been known to fool

even some of the best doctors. I imagine this internet

fake is something quite similar. I don't know how to

gaurd against it.
