Dear Forum,

The shocks are not stopping.Even after twenty years of first case being

reported from our country and even after so much money pumped in preventive and

awareness and treatment programmes we keep seeing and getting horrified by what

I saw yesterday.

An eight year old child M.S was brought ot me by his uncles. The boy is hale and

hearty physically but was given the gretaest mental trauma of his life by the

school where he is(was)studying. The boy was studying in a local school for

orphans, run by a relegious body. He started having fever and was tested for HIV

and once found positive-uncles were called and told to take away the child

showing inability of the school to keep him. When asked about parents,I was told

that father died of some sort of an attack two years ago and mother

remarried, the other sibling(younger) is living with some other uncle and is

negative.

Earlier also some hue and cries were heard from a rural village of punjab-some

teachers were suspended and the matter finished,.

Same may happen with this school and child if media takes up his case or

authorities read this mail, but the larger question is " is that the solution "

When will we be educationg the educators, when will we be educating the medical

community? when will we stop listening such horrifying tales
