Guest guest
Hi Group Has anyone had any experience with the relatively new TKA surgery that uses Trabecular Metal (by Zimmer)? A local ortho relates to me that this knee is made to withstand light running. Does anyone have any experience with these………..if so, are there any different post op considerations. Is length of recovery any different? I understand that they have weight bearing limitations for 6 weeks post op? Any thoughts?? Guest guest
From what I understand, the metal is " softer " and allows for a more congruous union between the cuts on the femur and tibia, and the backside of the prosthesis. This eliminates a potential wearing point, and thus a more durable knee. I have not seen any difference in protocols so far.
