Guest guest
Wow this water debate just keeps going and going.... If you have the money (it's expensive) my dietician suggested that I give Adam the chocolate milk 'juice' boxes (they are found with the regular juice boxes) for his school lunches. Up here they cost about 3 times the price of the regular juice boxes...but she said that they were made with a bit of coca (not sugary chocolate) and so, for Adam and his hypo-g and his other " hyper " related issues, the sugar is minimal and the benefit of the calcium is much greater. Plus it has more good calories. She forbid me from using juice!! Not for any of the reasons (re: Dr. H's idea) but because it is filled with empty junk our kids are better without. He's not crazy about them (I send a water bottle too) but he will drink them. PS The way they are made they do not need to be refridgerated. I do so he has something cold (or semi cold at least by lunch time!!) Guest guest
although MOST of the juices on the market have as their #1 ingredient high fructose corn syrup, I buy 100% juice.... so there is a lot of good to the juices I buy... however, as has been stated on this list, its a deterant to gaining weight. Are the choc. milk " juice " boxes cheaper than the Pediasure? I'm choosing Pediasure over the juice, but would be nice to switch to something a bit cheaper! at $10-12 for 6 cans, its a bit pricey! Guest guest
Hi Sue I wouldn't switch from the pediasure to chocolate milk boxes. They were suggested as an alternative to juice boxes for school lunches. I've started Adam on the pediasure (trying for a 4th " meal " a day--he's 8 years old now). But to answer your question, those cheap juice boxes that have no real juice in them (up here in Canada) are priced at a package of 3 for a little over one dollar. Then when you get to the 100% real juice (hard to find!!) they are somewhere around 2.00 for a package of 3. The boxed chocolate milk is $2.89 for a package of 3. Now, again, that is in Canadian funds--you guys have everything much cheaper down there. But as far as nutrition and calories---stick with the pediasure. Guest guest
---You vcan call ross the makers of pediasure and ask them to send you coupons. they will send you two, $2.00 coupons per month. THe only thing is that you have to call each month as they don't have a mailing list only one mailing per household per month. BUT I was having my mom, grandma and sister call each month also tHe only thing about the extra people calling is they have to say that they have a child who drinks it, not a nephew or grandson or they will not mail them to them. the phone number is they are open 830 - 500 Eastern time. if I can be of any more help let me know.
