Guest guest
, I have been a preschool director of private, non-profit schools. Your local school district does have to provide early intervention assistance to your child if her special needs are severe enough. Contact the school district for an assesment, they should have a special education coordinator. It does not matter if she is in private or public preschool. I know the ADA requires all bussiness to make reasonable adjustments in work environments in order to prevent discrimination soley on the basis of disability. I believe this applies to access to education as well. The key word is reasonable. Some preschools simply do not have a ratio that can accomodate special needs. The best way to find a high standard of care and flexibility is to look for a program that is accredited by the NAEYC. If you contact your local chapter they can also help you find a school that suits your needs. You probably also have a Resourse and Referall in your area. Hope this helps.
