Guest guest
, Thanks for the info - I have asked Tim's docs about the possibility of acidosis several times because of RSS articles I saw, but I guess we escaped this one... Guest guest
Inga, Bicitra is a bicarbonate supplement we give Josh to maintain his acidosis. This is prescribed by his nephrologist who discovered that Josh was acidotic during routine bloodwork. Josh is often asymptomatic. He now has blood work drawn every 4 months to be sure the dosage works for him. The good part is that it doesn't taste too bad so even when he is sick I can usually get the 3ml dose in him! I would guess that most of those who use corn startch have not seen the renal clinic or it wasn't picked up on. We also now have an official diagnosis of metabolic acidosis so in the event we visit the emergency room he is taken & treated almost immediately.
