Splinting / Orthotics

I was hoping someone out there may be able to help me answer splint

billing questions. We are a SE MI hospital based outpatient facility

who has fabricated custom splints for many years. We fairly recently

discovered that BCBS is no longer reimbursing for splints in any way.

We currently bill L-codes to most insurances. To others we utilize

ortho fit /train. Our issue is the BCBS patients who need splints yet

have no coverage. We are attempting to offer fairly affordable prices

for these " self pay " customers, however our billing department claims

that we cannot offer a different price to the self pays than to the

Medicare L-code patients. (There is however a difference in prices b/w

Lcodes and ortho fit/trains)

My question is then 2 fold... 1. How are people handeling billing for

BCBS splints? and 2. Is it ok to offer two different prices for the

same splint? (i.e. Medicare L-code prices, and self pays)
