The release of the NFHS III report without any reference to the reconciled

figures of HIV infections in India earlier announced by the Health Ministry is

again bound to confuse people who are just recovering from the earlier debate.

The methodology adopted by the Ministry was to take the NFHS figures as the base

and add corrections for missing numbers of vulnerable populations etc and

announce the final figure.

But now NFHS III release their own figures without any reference to the

reconciliation exercise.

NACO or Health Ministry may clarify the stand and remove any possible

misunderstanding.
