Peggy, IF he is running a high fever,

this could be an allergic re-action to the

anaesthesia. As he is Italian, they might

want to test him for g6pd deficiency, which

is common in families of Mediterranean

origin, especially in men and boys. This

they might be able to treat.

Love and hope for your Dad--this is no

way to spend fathers' day.

n, who is half Italian, half Spanish,

with about 1/4 Portuguese on each side--

I know--very confusing, but we all have

g6pd deficiency, so I thought that I would

mention it.

I know: More Cheer! from

more n

Re: Prayers needed please!!!

Peggy -- prayers and hugs sent your way.

Certainly an infection could be causing him to have this behavior.

Hi everyone,I'd like to ask everyone who does please add an extra prayer for my Dad to your list. He had knee replacement surgery on Tuesday morning and everything appeared to be fine until about 4 hours after when he started to become disoriented. It has gone steadily downhill since then.He was supposed to go to rehab on Sat. and start the healing process. That is not going to happen. We tried to talk him out of this surgery. He is 77, has Parkinsons, diabetes that he doesn't take care of and he has already lost his left eye to. He has a million other medical problems that would take me all day to list. He of course, being the stubborn Italian that he is didn't listen to anyone and now he is in trouble. I begged him to wait until after 's graduation which is the 28th of this month. He is the only Grandparent she has left, but he said he would be fine.He is now in CCU,

critical care,he is on oxygen and is getting some dextrose through an IV because his glucose just won't stay steady. It will be over 150 at some times and then plummet to 38 at others, we can't understand what's going on and neither can the drs. He was moved there yesterday afternoon and within that hour his temp went from 99.1 to 102.2. The neurologist that saw him thinks he may have an infection since this all started when they decided to put the catheter in on the day after the surgery. He is being restrained with soft restraints now because he is beingvery combative and yesterday he went after his sitter. He has to bewatched at every moment now because he is so out of it he keepstrying to get up and walk out. This poor girl was just doing her joband he went right after her and Barb(his ex-wife or whatever) grabbedhis arm and he latched onto her and it took 2 guys to get him torelease HER!!! For

someone who is doing so crummy he is still prettystrong when he is pissed off.He doesn't really know who we are or where he is. He throws ournames out here and there but doesn't know who we are when we aretalking to him. They are having a pulmonary consult today, to coverall the bases I guess. He was breathing heavily last night but wethink it was all the thrashing around he was doing. They also ordereda urine culture because he has been having blood in his urine backand forth. It's like his body has no idea what to do. went with me to see him yesterday and my nephew Dan came in.My nephew Joe is coming in from Vermont today and my niece Kate droveinto Syracuse from Rochester last night to her sister 's andthey are driving in today. My other niece Jennie is stuck in Oswegowithout a car and was going to try to get a ride into Syracuse tocatch a ride with them but wasn't having much

luck as off lastevening early. My sister told her they would go get her if he got anyworse. I don't know what any worse is.I just keep praying that if it's his time to go that he go quicklybecause he looks like he is suffering so now. Last night they had totake the IV out of his one arm cuz it came out of the vein and hisarm was all bloated and we had to hold him down and then when he hadto have the dextrose put in he had to be held down and he just keptasking to be let go and he started to cry. I hate to see him likethat, it just doesn't seem right. We were at the hospital until almost 11 last night and visiting hourswere over at 9. My sister works at this hospital but not in this unitbut she knows most of the drs. and she talked to the dr. that istaking care of my dad. Visiting hours start at 8 and I feel like Ihave to be there but then I feel guilty cuz is home and I feellike I

should be with him. I was up at 5:30 and called the hospitalat 6 to check on him and the nurse told me she had already talked tomy sister Pat and that was at 3:30. She couldn't sleep either.I'm so tired, but you all know how it is, you somehow find the energy to keep going. This has been a heck of a month, and it's only halfway over.To all you Dad's out there, Happy Father's Day!! I know I've missed a couple of birthday's here so Sharon & n Happy Belated Birthday!!! I hope your days were wonderful!!! One I think I'm on time for is . Happy Birthday , hope it's great!!I guess that's all for now. Thanks for thinking of us.Hugs,Peggy
