Dr M L D Amalaraj, who works in a private hospital, today said adequate precautionary measures were taken before conducting the surgery on the patient, whose body resistance was poor. The surgery was performed on December 7. Many doctors were still apprehensive of conducting any surgery on AIDS patients as they stand a chance of getting affected with the disease, he said. The 35-year-old patient was in good health now, the doctor said. He urged the administration to take steps to screen AIDS patients for cataract and allocate separate fund for treating them.
