This morning, I received the following email from the sales director of

OBTech, the maker of the Swedish Band.

In a nutshell. They are offering to send one person to BB2K -

Transportation + Hotel - Paid by OBTech.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS: ( As I dug them out of the email )

(1) Must have an OBTech band installed.

(2) Would not normally attend due to finances.

HOW TO APPLY:

(2) There may be a questionnaire to fill out. I haven't made it yet.

WHEN IS THE DECISION:

(1) The final decision will be made Sunday, 11:59pm (Midnight) PDT.

(2) If necessary, I will have someone draw the names at random.

(3) The winner and one alternate will be presented to OBTech, Monday AM.

Dear Wayne

I saw from your recent email that you are about to organise the bash of the

century. Congratulations and good luck for what sounds like a very positive

and fun day for everybody.

You ask about the attendance of Obtech people. We are, as I speak, in the

process of expanding our company to take on medically-qualified staff from

the various disciplines which are involved in the selection and follow-up of

gastric band patients. This team will be able to offer advice based on the

sound experience they have gained over the years working with people who

have received the Swedish Band.

Until our new team is up and running, we wanted to find another way of

supporting your meeting. We do see the need and the true benefit of

organising such an event and for this reason we are pleased to suggest the

following.

We would be glad to sponsor the journey of one patient who has received the

Swedish Band and who, for financial reasons, is unable to attend your

meeting. After all, what is the point of sending our people to your meeting

if the patients themselves can't attend?

As the central coordinator and organiser of this forthcoming event, you

have no doubt been in touch with hundreds of patients and will know of one

who has received a Swedish band and would particularly benefit from this

offer. I would please ask you to select one patient and forward me her/his

details so that we may get in touch to arrange travel and hotel

arrangements. Please can I ask you NOT to have patients contact us directly

as this would inevitably result in a lot of confusion and disappointed

people, which is not the aim of this whole exercise!
