Tina, If you adhere to SCD for at least three months (no cheating, letting your body heal internally, etc.) I don't think there is a person on the planet who wouldn't benefit from this unprocessed, whole food diet.  Everything will change, your taste buds, cravings, bowel function, it's been a major blessing for me.  There can be difficulties when you are beginning, and this group is so wonderfully encouraging.  I hope you find some help and some friends here.SalHi there,This is my first time posting and I want to apologize if this isn't the right place for this post but I didn't know where else to go. Elaine's books just discovered me and I am almost done reading it. A friend recommended it because of some life long symptoms I have been dealing with. Everything in the book is resonating with me and giving me some hope. Let me share......when I was 2 weeks old (I am now 32)I had two thirds of my colon removed because it wasn't functioning properly. My mom was told by the doctor's that it would grow back....sounds odd doesn't it??? Over the new few years I suffered bouts of contsipation for weeks at a time. Since that point I have suffered with chronic diarrhea, gas and bloating. About 2 years ago I starting looking into if I could alleviate my symptoms somehow. I tried different diets and food elimination but nothing worked. About a month ago I had a colonoscopy and that's when we found out about my short colon. It also showed the possibility of acute chronic colitis and IBD. The SCD seems to be something that would help. Of course the doctors just want to medicate me which I don't want to do. Tankfully I can get through the day without medication but I would like to symptom free or as close as possible.Everything I have read about people on SCD seem to have really severe issues and I have only seen one testimony where someone had a colon resection. Has any one else out there had a similar experience? Will the SCD help? Thanks in advance for your responses. Tina
