Guest guest
Sillz, This may be true in the USA....when i applied for hospital cover....all they ask is name, address...the usual...there is no information required of height, weight etc.....and may i say....get insurance now....if you want the op to be paid by private health insurance, you must be a member for a 12 month qualifying period....that means unless you join and wait 12 months...they will not cover any costs.....check out iselect.com.au that's where i joined medibank private from....you enter your info in...and it gives you all the comparative prices for the most suitable health insurance cover to meet your needs. Let me say that i didnt join until post-op.....hence had to borrow $10K......wish i had joined up earlier...as it took me 3 years of thinking about the op before i eventually decided it was right for me. http://www.iselect.com.au/enhydra/iSelect/Home.po Missy_Belle Perrow Market Analyst Market Analysis and Forecasting TXU Networks Level 14, 452 Flinders Street Melbourne 3000 Phone: +61 3 9229 6154 Fax: +61 3 9229 6297 Email: melissa.perrow@... " Sillz " 25/10/2000 11:19 Please respond to ozband To: <ozbandegroups> cc: Subject: Banding and Private Health Insurance From what I have read and seen on the mailing list, it seems that you can get the operation done faster if you have private health insurance. I presently do not have any, but would be interested in getting some if I decide to have the operation. My main concern is that a private health insurer would not take me on because of my weight in the first place. Is this true? Do they accept new applicaitons for heavier people? Guest guest
> That just does not happen here. There is no weight prejudice in joining > health cover. I do know that in America that seems to be a problem. I > seem to recall that you are from America? I am Australian...I was born and raised there...I have just been in the US for the past 16 months. I am still an Australian citizen. I just vaguely remember somethnig back home about not being eligible if you are obese, but I must have been wrong
