Guest guest
Dear Mike, Re: Your request for information on Best practices of truckers projects TCI Foundation, the social arm of Transport Corporation of India, has been implementing Project Kavach, a national HIV/AIDS prevention program for long distance truck drivers and helpers since December 2003 under grant from Avahan, the India AIDS Initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The program is present at 17 large intervention locations, bulk of which are trans-shipment locations/Transport Nagars. These locations have been strategically selected based on the twin criteria of volume of long distance trucks available and average time spent at the location for meaningful engagement with different facets of the program. I am the Program Manager of the same. Please feel free to call me on 9313481211, if you need any more info. We have a basic website which you can access at http://tcifindia.org/ Regards Anil Anil Nair e-mail: <anil.tcif@...>
Guest guest
Dear Mike Re: Your query - Trucker Interventions in India. The 'Kavach' project by the TCI Foundation is possibly the largest trucker intervention in the country. Implemented since 2004, it has had a fair amount of success in re-inventing BCC as well as many programme components- mainly due to lack of any pre-cursor. Another example of a good corporate intervention for truckers is the Apollo Tyres programme in some trucking hubs in India. PLease check these links http://tcifindia.org/ http://www.apollotyres.com/apollo-tyres-group/corporate-history.aspx Best regards Sameer Thakur Development Consultant New Delhi 09971278833 e-mail: <mail2sameerthakur@...>
