Guest guest
My 11 year old daughter has never had a problem with allergies. She has always been extremely healthy for a child with maybe only an occasional cold but never enough to keep her home from school or anything. Thinking back though the only strange thing that I can think of is that the last time she had chicken pox (she had them 2-3 times, we think, from the time she was 18months old till she was 24months old) she came down with a really bad mouth infection where her gums swelled over her teeth and bled and as a result her chin got an infection also. Anyway after that she has always been prone to getting fever blisters and mouth sore very easily. I have always heard that fever blister were a result of something being out of whack with your system but I don't know. When I questioned the doctor about this (a year before this episode with CU) he just recommended a tooth paste for cold sores. Does anybody have any input about fever blisters or mouth sores. Right now I am just keeping a list of things to check into when we go back to the doctor this summer. Donna (Richmond, IN)

Guest guest
Not my daughter she had hives first, I actually thought she was getting the chicken pox but about 24 hours later she had full blown hives from head to toe at 5 months. Guest guest
Hi , clearly it was stress... LOL. I shouldn't laugh because I know how your daughter has suffered. But, those that are not informed will say things that are sometimes truely remakable. I have a handicapped child born with Down Syndrome. I can't tell you the things that have been said to me about his genetic defect. I once had a friend, who'se mother in law died in a terrible fire. She said to me... " it was the best thing, because she wanted to be cremated anyway. " arg.... takes all kinds I guess. Anyway, know that I've got your daughter in my thoughts and prayers. I hate to see the little ones suffer. Terry > Ohhhh. Guest guest
Thank you but sometimes I think they thought it was all in my head until they saw Alena with a massive load of hives and angioedema. She looked like a giant blown-up red/purple balloon. THEN they believed me!! lol Although they couldn't explain it they at least witnessed it. Oh well I guess we all learn as we go. Guest guest
I'm curious? How many of you have dealt with chronic allergies before your hives ever appeared? I've been dealing with sinus problems and asthma as long as I can remember. Aside from gallstones I never had a single problem with health before this. It was though determined that I am allergic to tetnus as an infant.

Guest guest
Dear Donna Did you see my posting the other day about liquorice? I read an article in Woman magazine this week that tells about a woman who got repeated mouth ulcers, and used liquorice tablets bought from health food stores, which she says made a tremendous difference. Liquorice is one of the most important herbs in traditional Chinese medicine, and produces a soothing coating agent which is why is works so well for mouth ulcers. It also is " equally useful " for stomach ulcers and stomach inflammation as it kills the bacteria H-pylori. It says that it is important to use liquorice which has had glycyrrhizin removed, as this may increase blood pressure and cause fluid retention. Best wishes, Carol Re: Allergies > My 11 year old daughter has never had a problem with allergies. Guest guest
We just moved to North Carolina and my 4 year old son started to have a constant runny nose. We took him for allergy testing and it turns out he has almost every pollen allergy know. I was talking to a few people that moved down here a few years ago, when I told them about my son, they laughed at me, and said you dont know about the honey? So I replied, What about the honey, my son doesn't eat honey. They said "No,NO he has to eat the honey from a local bee hive, that will help him to build immunity to the local pollen. They said that they both had really bad allergies when they came down and now it was under control. So we are going to give it a go and see what happens. All The Best, LouThanks, Lou. I should try that, too. I've been noticing something similar, but which is not out and out allergies. Now the question is, where does one get local NY honey? Guest guest
Hey Mara, I had the same question regarding where in heavens name would I get local NYC honey? As it is important to eat honey that is within your area that you live in. I am unsure if you live in NYC but if you ever get to the farmers market in Union Square the honey guy from Berkshire Berries has " NYC Rooftop Honey " it's expensive though. Small bottle $15! My husband and I feel desperate enough so we got 2 bottles. Although, I cannot eat too much of it due to Candida. I wonder how much I would need for it to be useful? My hubby eats a tablespoon everyday. I never asked what is the correct dosage? And in general I would tend to think it's better to eat it before allergy season starts? Wouldn't that be the way our immune system would be prepared? Does the honey actually stop the allergies when we are in the midst of it? Just some questions... I think you can order it online.. http://www.berkshireberries.com/ http://www.bee-man.com/ Jodi SCD 6 months Crohn's/Colitis > Thanks, Lou. I should try that, too.
