Dear Forum Members,

The ministry of Tourism in close collaboration with NACO and UNDP is organizing

a two Day HIV/AIDS awareness programme in DILLI HATT on 11th and 12th of

November.

As you all are aware that building a multi-sectoral response to HIV/AIDS is a

key component of the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP-III). NACO is joining

hands with various Ministries and other government departments, public and

private sectors including NGOs, for multisectoral approach. The Ministry of

Tourism is one of the Ministries that have been part of the mainstreaming

efforts of NACO and UNDP.

The main objective of mainstreaming is to the Support national efforts in

halting and reversing the epidemic in India over the next five years through

mainstreaming HIV and AIDS in development responses.

While researchers continue to search for a cure for HIV/AIDS prevention

campaigns remain the primary avenue for action to stop the spread the disease as

awareness is the key to prevention and control of HIV/AIDS.

Since lot of the people especially young crowd, adolescents, visitors and newly

weds will be visiting the area “people based media” like Street plays and band

performance by NGO-SAHARA will help the youth to break the silence during these

festive days. The play/band performance is an interesting medium which touches

the emotional chord. The stalls carrying the IEC materials on HIV/AIDS will also

be displaced throughout the day.

We solicit your kind presence in the inaugural session on 11th NOV, 2007 at 4pm.

Sincerely,

Manorama Bakshi,

Consultant-Ministry of Tourism
