Guest guest Posted November 4, 2007 Report Share Posted November 4, 2007 Dear Forum Members, The ministry of Tourism in close collaboration with NACO and UNDP is organizing a two Day HIV/AIDS awareness programme in DILLI HATT on 11th and 12th of November. As you all are aware that building a multi-sectoral response to HIV/AIDS is a key component of the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP-III). NACO is joining hands with various Ministries and other government departments, public and private sectors including NGOs, for multisectoral approach. The Ministry of Tourism is one of the Ministries that have been part of the mainstreaming efforts of NACO and UNDP. The main objective of mainstreaming is to the Support national efforts in halting and reversing the epidemic in India over the next five years through mainstreaming HIV and AIDS in development responses. While researchers continue to search for a cure for HIV/AIDS prevention campaigns remain the primary avenue for action to stop the spread the disease as awareness is the key to prevention and control of HIV/AIDS. Since lot of the people especially young crowd, adolescents, visitors and newly weds will be visiting the area “people based media” like Street plays and band performance by NGO-SAHARA will help the youth to break the silence during these festive days. The play/band performance is an interesting medium which touches the emotional chord. The stalls carrying the IEC materials on HIV/AIDS will also be displaced throughout the day.
