Guest guest
Does anyone know how to make your own pecan butter? I have seen a few posts of using this, but am unable to find it in any stores. I am just about to finish my 2nd month of SCD and it seems from the posts that pecan butter may be the easiest to try out of the nut butters? I just bought some pecans, but do you just grind them up, or do you need to add any oil to make it " butter " ? Thank you! na UC SCD 2 months asacol 1200mg 3x/day
Guest guest
Hi ne: I have seen posts explaining that you simply grind them up in a food processor. Others like to add a little oil. Guest guest
I couldn't get mine to turn into "butter" without the addition of oil. Since coconut oil is supposed to be good for you, I melt it and add it to the pecans as I'm processing them. It seems to take a good bit of oil to make the pecans into "butter"; however, that may be because my food processor is not all that great. Guest guest
We make pecan butter all the time and simply just grind the nuts in our little Kitchen Aid food processor (that we bought refurbished for $29). It does a great job of getting the nuts down to butter. It does take a little while, but we do not add any oil. One thing to consider, we tried coconut oil with our son, and he reacted pretty badly to it...obviously it was still too much fiber for his GI tract. But, he does fantastic with the pecan butter alone. ds 11yo CD SCD Jan
Guest guest
I use a fp and I toast the pecans a little before grinding them. I've never had to use oil for pecans. But I never have been able to make flour with them either. Guest guest
I don't think pecans are suppose to be the consistency of flour when grounded. My bread has turned out nice anyway:o) SCD 1 month > > > We make pecan butter all the time and simply just grind the nuts in our > > little Kitchen Aid food processor (that we bought refurbished for > > $29).
