Jodi I've always felt connected to you - now I know why we know

ourselves so well and can't figure this out

and can't feel good and stay that way!!! you are singing my song and

I think we're trying the same stuff - GI doc will let me know what

tests are next I think MRCP sounds better then ERCP so I'll request

if i have a choice - he's still overlooking my pillcam footage

anyway - you're not alone and I too have had good moments- so much

better than the past 7 months - even talking walks etc as you

mentioned - we will get there!!!! keep the faith

Hey Eileen,

Thanks first of all it's good to know that we are all figuring this

dance out together. I think a lot of us are very confused. Some are

faster than others. I am thankful as I too was able to get up this

morning go to the farmers market then go to whole foods come home AND

cook and I even managed to speak to my mother in law!! All in one day

and I walked the whole way. Not even thinking about a bathroom! I'm

not saying I deserve a metal but I could -never- do this pre-SCD

unless I was hopped up on a lot of Prednisone for months and months on

end!

About the ERCP. I learned from Kim M. that the procedure is EXTREMELY

dangerous and it is super important to go to a doctor that really

knows what he/she is doing- most of the ERCP people that know are in

Minnisota if I am not mistaken there is one guy in NYC- I am still

looking into it. If it isn't done properly it can cause SERIOUS side

effects like chronic Pancreatitis. My GI does not do them and he said

one of woman who ended up being his patient was in the hospital for 7

months because of a botched ERCP she couldn't stop vomiting. Very

scary... So, doctors usually only do it if blood tests really show

elevated enzyme levels and so on.

MRCP is pretty harmless it's just an MRI with Gadalinium.

Please be careful and don't rush into an ERCP. But, maybe you already

know all of this. Just felt the need to caution you.

oh no I didn't know - thanks for the warning re ERCP - no thanks! i

can't wait to speak to doc to see what he sees and what he suggests

next or continue - because i am gaiing and improving - maybe the

nausea will just fade and fadeand go the heck away forever!!! AMEN to

that!!! 7 months stinks -but compared to most i have it easy :-)

had a bunch of energy too - i think the weather helps (except with

this hot hand issue still) seeing rheumotologist wed

always somethign - but i hope our peobiotics really help us both -

they seem to be :-)

better and> then some days it is very bad.>>>>

Part of this reaction is probably die off, the rest of it may be

related to what foods you are eating. Are you keeping a food

journal. I think a food journal is very helpful for most people

starting out. I think it would be extremely beneficial to you

since you are trying additional supplements with SCD (enzymes,

probiotics etc..) You could record foods, especially new foods,

time of day with supplements and your reactions (feeling good, bad

bm's, fatigue etc...)

<<<I am trying to figure out a regimen and which problem to combat

first-> fats or yeast???>>>>

These can go hand in hand. If you work on the fat problem, it hekps

heal digestion, which improves your own immune system which will

work on getting rid of yeast and promote a better microbial

balance. If you work on yeast it allows you body to work on

healing and your body should start producing more of the digestive

enzymes it needs.

One way to do this is to limit the amount of fats you have. If your

digestive system is not up to par fats can slow down the healing

process. Elaine said this is one of the reasons that the intro is

very low fat - fats are difficult for an injured gut to digest.

<<<I have responded very well to the S. Boulardii

> Yesterday, I added Lyosan later in the day (S. Boulardii in AM

It is> usually so much better when I take it.>>>>

Gas is common if you go suddenly from loose stools, diarrhea to

formed stools. The body has to readjust quickly and gas can get

trapped.

<<<<I find the S. Boulardii helps

> on a level where I don't feel so much discomfort, nausea and like

an> abdominal burning that is hard for me to explain. I do get more

Some of this pressure may be in part from healing. I found that

once solid stool started moving through my right side (after the

entire colon was actively ulcerated) it hurt. That pain got worse

before it started to improve, but then it steadily and rapidly

improved and finally went away.

<<<I eventually want to try DG and Candizyme.

> Which one do you think I should try first?>>>

If you still find yeast is an issue when you are ready, try the

Candizyme (or other yeast enzyme).

If yeast is not as much an issue at that time and you want to look

at boosting digestion then a digestive enzyme, like Digest Gold

(DG), may be best.

I strongly suggest that for you, you start with a low dose of

either. You'll probably have lots of die off and starting low will

help minimize it.

<<<How do you think I should try it?

> Do you think when I try something new in general on those days I

> shouldn't take a probiotic?>>>

Keep everything else the same and only try one new thing over

aperiod of 2-5 days (specific amount of time depends on your

digestive schedule at that time). You should wait until you are

aren't seeing a lot of changes (really good one day and then

fatigued the next day).

<<<<How will I know if I am feeling bad from> not taking probiotic

or something new?

This is where a food journal will help you. It helps you see the

forest from the trees ; )
