Guest guest
Hi everyone, thankyou again for all your support and well wishes during my op and my post-op blues. I'm happy to report I'm over them and feeling good. I have lost 3kg so far!!!!! yippee! (although I was scared for a day cause the scales didn't move but the next day they dropped a kilo so I guess it just takes time to catch up sometimes). I'm getting used to the fluid stage now, I even allowed my hubby to buy himself Macdonalds today while I was in the car and I wasn't even tempted! (I'm way too scared of getting something stuck or moving the band). I would like to get some opinions on the following though - I'm thinking of not getting a fill until I finish the mush stage (one month fluid, one month mush is my doctors way of doing it) The reasons are as follows - 1. Hunger has never been a big problem for me, I can be hungry all day and not eat its more the 'see food' 'eat food' 'eat every last bit' syndrome with me and just knowing the band is there stops me from doing that at the moment. 2. I would like to see what solid foods I can tolerate without a fill and can't do this till the end of the 2nd month. 3. My hubby is having his transplant in March and I'm paranoid about getting sick so I'll be popping lots of pills because if I get sick I'm not allowed to visit him and he will be in an isolation room for 6 weeks so he will need me there. I had gastro for a week once when he was in hospital and it was hell not being able to see him and of coarse not being able to check on everything the docs and nurses are doing to make sure there are no mistakes (they call me a 'mafia wife' LOL, I wear the title with pride!) I guess the main reason I don't want to do it yet is that I'm not in a huge hurry, if it takes me 2 years to get to goal (I have 32kg to go) then so be it! as long as I'm loosing or maintaining I'll be happy and after hearing some of the problems people have had I think it will make sense for me to take it slow. So there it is, let me know your opinion (and don't worry, I realise its just an opinion and I can and will make up my own mind I just wanted to see what people who have had the band for longer think and also if you think its possible to do - wait for a fill that is). Its funny but it has taken a few days for me to decided to post this because I was worried about what people might think even the fact that I've only lost 3kg in the first week and there are others out there who have lost more in the first week makes me think 'oh, they will think I'm not trying as hard' etc but these are only things that crop up in moments of self doubt which luckily don't happen to often and I realise everyone is different and I need to do what I feel is going to work for me. Oh well, just sharing some thoughts out loud so I'll go now, thanks again Kell _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
