Dear Eileen,

In conversation this week with my brother-in-law he told me about an

Indian custom of using anise seed to sweeten the breath. Just pop a

few in and chew.

The PROS:

1. Easy to get.

2. Highly portable.

3. Long shelf life.

4. No preparation needed.

The CONS:

1. Since they are seeds, they are probably considered an " advanced "

food on the diet.

2. Taste's like licorice (a con for some, a pro for others).

Check out wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anise_seed) and one of my

favorite spice references

(http://www.uni-graz.at/~katzer/engl/Pimp_ani.html) for more info.

A one ounce jar of anise seed from McCormick costs me almost $5 US. A

1.1 ounce jar from www.Penzeys.com costs $1.89 US.

Cheers,

Stocker
