Guest guest
Good afternoon to all, Please take the time to watch AMA President's ( H. Nielsen, M.D.) 1.10 minute video response to the US Senate's defeat of HR 3661. Go to _www.ama-assn.org_ (http://www.ama-assn.org) and on the right side of the screen you will see a box entitled " Senate fails to pass Medicare bill. " Directly under this box, Newsroom. Click on " Dr Nielsen responds to Senate Medicare Vote (video). " It's a great resource tool for staff members and patients with access to the Internet. It explains, in laymen's terms, the result of our US Senator's decision on Thursday evening, June 26th and the impact it will have on Medicare patients' access to care. As a third party billing company for practice PTs and OTs and on Friday, decided to host a " Notify Your Louisiana Senators Contest " at our office. The employee who can get the most individuals to e-mail or fax (from 06/31-07/07) our state Senators, Landrieu and Vitter to voice their support of HR 3661 and/or outrage at the US Senate's defeat of this bill will win a " paid day-off " of work. One of our staff members set up a hotmail account for her grandmother so she could send a letter of protest to our Senators. She had a total knee replacement in December 2007 and thanks the excellent skills of her orthopod and PT, she has very little pain and is back to working in her garden and flower bed. Over the weekend, created a " Patient Information Sheet " for our clients to provide to their Medicare patients explaining the US Senate's decision to defeat HR 3661 and how this decision will serve to impact their Medicare coverage as it specifically relates to outpatient therapy services provided in a private practice setting. In Field (E) of the Medicare ABN form, we also added, " See attached patient information sheet on HR 3661 bill. " In the event a variation of HR 3661 is passed by Congress and signed into law by the President at a later date and is made retroactive to July 1, 2008, we will have a mechanism of tracking those dates of service wherein the patient had previously met the therapy cap exception rule (prior to July 1st) and was provided outpatient therapy at no charge or a reduced charge until such time as their care could be transferred to an outpatient hospital setting or the patient reached his/her long term goals. Moreover, this provides us with an opportunity to provide our Medicare patients with the telephone number, fax number and e-mail address of our LA State Senators, Landrieu and Vitter. Good day to all. D. Cavitt, Executive Director Claims Processing & Recovery, L.L.C. **************Gas prices getting you down? Search AOL Autos for fuel-efficient used cars.
