Guest guest
Dear All, At the outset please permit us to give you some information about the ongoing activities of our organization. FXB India Suraksha is a non-profit section 25 company engaged in increasing AIDS awareness and in providing Care and Support to the AIDS-infected. FXB India has been working in the country since 1991 and is currently implementing programmes in 28 States and 4 Union Territories of the country. Our field activities broadly cover the Control and Prevention of HIV/AIDS and Care and Support of those infected/affected, particularly orphans and vulnerable children. FXB India was founded by Countess Albina du Boisrouvray, a prominent Swiss philanthropist, and has two former IAS officers as Directors on the Board. To particularly focus attention on the condition of the orphans and vulnerable children, who are the innocent collateral victims of the AIDS epidemic, we observe the 7th May of every year as World AIDS Orphans Day. This year we will be observing World AIDS Orphans Day jointly with the National AIDS Control Organization by holding a Mass Event and Candlelight Vigil on May 7th, 2008 at 7.00 PM in the Central Park, Connaught Place, New Delhi. It would be a great boost to the cause if you could agree to participate in this function. The number of children rendered vulnerable on account of AIDS is enormous. It has been estimated that globally 15 million children had lost one or more parents to AIDS by year 2005. Also, it is estimated that there are about 1 lakh HIV-infected children in India, who have inherited the disease from their infected parents. To bring the plight of these hapless children to the notice of all, and to mobilize attention of governments and communities, FXB launched a global movement in the year 2002, to commemorate 7th May as World AIDS Orphans’ Day. Kofi n, the UN Secretary General had offered his personal support to this campaign. Since then, the commemoration of 7th May as the World AIDS Orphans’ Day has gained support from various countries, prominent leaders and communities from several states in India. Providing care to AIDS orphans and vulnerable children as a part of their inherent rights has been a key message emphasized by the movement all over the world. The Day is observed in most of the states in the country, and a few of the states have issued official Gazette Notifications recognizing the day. We look forward to your presence in the event.
