Guest guest Posted May 11, 2008 Report Share Posted May 11, 2008 Dear Forum, FXB India Suraksha (Jharkhand) and State AIDS Control Society jointly observed the World AIDS Orphans Day near Vidhan Sabha, Ranchi with a signature campaign. Ms Rama Khalkho, the Mayor of Ranchi inaugurated the campaign by putting his message on the signature board. Addressing the gathering she cleared “awareness at all level of the society is very essential for reducing hardships of AIDS orphan. People need to come up with positive attitude so that the AIDS orphan could live a dignified, healthy, meaningful and productive life”. She proclaimed enthusiastically that health fund from municipality corporation will be channelised for mass awareness generation on sensitive health issues in slum areas. Meenakshi from JSACS told that “the society already working for care and support of AIDS orphan. On this occasion she urged, society needs to come up with better acceptance towards AIDS orphan”. She further added that need of the hour is to address the basic rights of AIDS Orphan. FXB representative added, “observation of World AIDS Orphans Day is an initiative of FXB. The day is to see and bring attention to AIDS orphans”. He stressed that for all round development of AIDS orphan holistic approach needs to be emphasized. He continued, FXB observing AIDS Orphans Day on 7th May for six years consecutively and in the process of getting the declaration 7th May as “World AIDS Orphans Day” worldwide. In the signature campaign common man, youths, FXB volunteers & representatives, JSACS reprensentative, representatives of international agencies, and media persons poured their thoughts. The messages captured the facts. It was clear that the society understands the plight of AIDS Orphans and believes that love and intense feeling can heal the problem only. Great Spirit was seen when a rickshaw puller put the thumb impression with full force on the board after learning that the cause of the campaign is social and to raise voice for the vulnerable child. A stall was placed by JSACS on this event for information dissemination and developing better understanding on HIV/AIDS.IEC materials displayed on the plight of AIDS orphan, HIV prevention, dos and don’ts for infected pregnant mothers and infected child and referrals. The stall was an object of great curiosity and people turn out to see the stall. The persons in the stall also addressed the quaries of people. On this occasion messages and proclamations received from His Excellency Governor of Jharkhand, Mayor of Ranchi, and the secretary of the Hon’ble speaker of the state assembly. The observation of World AIDS Orphans Day was an opportunity to generate awareness and resources and to provide platforms for people to put positive and constructive thoughts on the white sheet for the AIDS Orphans. The messages unfolded the intentions and attitude of the people. It is rightly said that good intentions and attitudes determine altitude.
