Welcome to the group.

Your child may be experiencing die-off, which is a

period of detoxification.

Please consider joining Pecanbread immediately. This is a site

geared for children with autism and other issues who are

on SCD and the mothers at that site have tons of experience

dealing with behaviors in children who have recently

begun the diet. (As well as all along the various stages.)

http://www.pecanbread.com/new/local1.html

They also have tons of info at their site in general, so

it is well worth reading. Click on the various top menus.

Good luck.

I have a son with autism, but I'm not familiar with many of the supplements you are using with your son. However, I have tried DMG, and know that for some children it definitely causes behaviors. My son was completely unresponsive to it (neither hurt nor helped), but I have a friend whose 3-year-old gave his dad a black-eye 2 days into using DMG. You might consider trying one thing at a time, instead starting a lot of new things at once (or maybe you've already done that -- but even if you have, all the supplements may affect your son differently now that he's on the SCD). I agree that the folks at Pecanbread will be able to help you more than I, but just wanted to throw the experience we've had with DMG in.

My son has been SCD for two weeks now. He has never had gut issuesbut is extremely hyper and severly speech delayed.

And now has behaviors. He is now eating dirt, pencils, rubber, and keeps filling his mouthwith water and spitting it out. (repetitive behaviors) I am upset tosay the least. He has lost some eye contact which he has always had. I have read so

many good things about this diet and I am not sure if to take himoff. His therapist, teachers and some friends say he seems like adifferent child and has lost his ability to follow directions. In thebeginning he seemed to be much calmer and then the behaviors started

about a week into the diet.I have also put him on MethylAid, Alpha-Ketoglutaric Acid, DMG, GABA,CoQ10, and Taurine.Has anyone ever experienced this?Thank you in advance for your reply.

Ann,

Thank you for your response to my question. I did introduce the supplements every three days or weekly. But I am going to look into the DMG reaction . Thanks again!
