Guest guest
Baden, My understanding is that amounts should make no difference -- BTVC says that the diet is designed to be eaten in any amount size. I can tell you too, that I am having the same problem your son is -- food has now been consistent and very limited for several weeks now, yet my digestive signs are constantly changing. I assume it is part of the healing process. For me (and granted I have UC which might not be your son's problem, but it might be part of it...) I'm sure the healing is going to take many months if not years, so it makes sense that as things heal, my reaction to foods will change. I also have started to find that, lo and behold, stress does make a difference. Ann Why, if I have my kid on the same foods (list recently posted) everyday do his intestines respond differently every day? One day crazy bloating; another day crazy gas; one day no bloating whatsoever; one day very loose stool; then three days of no stool; then a 'perfect' or near perfect stool, then liquid again. Why is there such a range on the same foods? I spent considerable time the other day going through his food/symptom/poop journal and can't find any pattern.Thoughts?ie. Is it normal to have such variation at this stage? (He has been SCD since January 1st, with five days of screw ups early April; back to intro and currently early stage.) Or can amounts of each food have that much impact?Maybe I need to try serving the exact same amounts at the same times, see if his bowels become consistent, and tweak from there??Baden
Guest guest
Hi. Early on I only had 2 proteins and 3 vegetables that I could tolerate. I had all the strange gurgling and varying of symptoms and the end result day to day. This phase really tried my patience and drove me crazy trying to guess what was happening. I had joint pain and lots of pain in the Ileum – I could hear a whoosh at a certain hour every day. I had to use a heating pad at this particular time of the day on my tender abdomen. I have since learned that was the Ileum opening up and releasing into the colon. I also learned that once the bad bacteria is under control in the small bowel this will go away – it vanished at about 8 months on the diet. I was amazed at how much activity was taking place. Bacteria at war. CD – 2 years SCD – 16 months
