Guest guest
Hi, I know that everyone was delighted to here directly from Marilyn the other day. Hopefully she will be up to doing another post before to long. Just talked to her and she has been having a pretty good day. Dr. Kim (her accupuncturist) made a house call (I didn't know that there were still doctors that made house calls) and the treatment has relieved a lot of the pain in her hips, back, and knees. She sees the plastic surgeon either tomorrow or the next day and she is REALLY hoping to be relieved of at least 2 of the drain tubes. But, even if they are kind of icky, better drains than abscesses in her abdomen. She finally got a good look at the incision in the mirror. It is 24 inches long (one of the nurses measured it) and has so many staples in it that it looks like a zipper (Marilyn's description). She is staying away from magnets for now! Margie has to leave tomorrow, so that has Marilyn a little down. Harry told his work that he may have to be taking a longer leave than they had expected. Marilyn doesn't like taking the pain meds. The codine gives her a headache and makes her fuzzy headed. It's difficult to read or concentrate -- she doesn't like TV -- she can't sit for long periods -- She's bored. She's tried -- she's frustrated -- it's a fairly normal recovery that is going very well so far. Actually she is ahead of schedule, if that is the correct phrase. Marilyn has been extremely pro-active about her health -- following SCD -- taking the right vitamins -- exercising regularly. Unknowingly she had prepared her mind and body for this ordeal. Your prayers and good wishes have uplifted her spirit and she is strengthen by them. Bless you all, Eileen T
