Guest guest
Since my son started the SCD almost 3 months ago, he has been taking one of the Freeda SCD Multivitamins a day and one SCD B Complex as Elaine suggested. However, recently there have been items in the news about certain vitamins in high levels not being very good for us, and so we've been taking a more detailed look at the combined levels of the two Freeda vitamins. I can understand why some of the vitamin levels would have to be high for those with IBD, particularly the B vitamins, but why do you think the amount of vitamin C is so high (333mg in the multivitamin and 500mg in the B complex vitamin)? Folic Acid is also very high when you combine the two products. We're not disputing Elaine's expertise - my son is doing great on the SCD - we're just concerned since the recent news articles. Anyone with any expert knowledge of recommended amounts of vitamins out there? Have any experts recently analyzed the content of these two supplements? (Also we are getting very confused about IU, ug, mg and mcg!!) Thanks for any help. Lesley Son with Crohns +10 years, SCD 3 months
Guest guest
I have been taking those vitamins myself and I have IBS but I am not a child. These vitamins are the only ones that I can tolerate...the others make me sick. I would call the freeda company myself and ask what to do for a child maybe cutting them in half would work. or giving one every other day. But call the co they will help you more than anyone will I am sure that they have case studies and they allowable limits for your son's age and weight group.
