What happens after remission ?

Well my story is exactly like Bob's. After being in remission and

symptom free for 1 year, I started cheating. You know how cheating

goes, first a little something here and there and BAM - your back to

your old ways. My problem is my husband who is a chocolatier, so you'll

pretty much find chocolate oozing from our home.

I've been toughing it out for 2 weeks and I am finally normal again. In

addition to the diet basics, I used some oil of oregano and felt it's

effects immediately. I can always tell when the yeasts are back because

they immediately give you die off reactions when using oil of oregano.

I won't be using sugar again - EVER and I am going to have to regard

chocolate as heroin ! I am sure that sugar is the major culprit as rice

and yams caused no problems. Or, it's really the cumulative effect of

all starches and sugars which then throw the balance off.

I think CD/UC folks really do have a genetic inability to process the

sugars. Probably didn't help that mothers in the 50's didn't

breastfeed as it wasn't fashionable and M.D's didn't encourage it -

formula had more nutrition. As we all know, it was the beneficial

bacteria that we didn't get and probably set up my gut for a life time

battle.

CD - 2 years

SCD - 16 months
