Guest guest Posted January 16, 2008 Report Share Posted January 16, 2008 Position Starting: Feb 2008 (estimated) Description: This is a Research Interviewer position at St. 's Medical College and Hospital. The Study is a 4-year study involving interviews with People living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), HIV. The position is part of an international research project entitled " Examining ART adherence issues in Bangalore, India, " conducted by St. 's Medical College in collaboration the University of California, San Francisco. The study aims to understand the factors that influence medication adherence and the development of drug resistance in patients taking Antiretroviral Treatment (ART). The interviewer will recruit patient participants from St. 's clinic sites, Bowring Hospital ART clinic, and other collaborating sites, and screen them to ensure that they meet study eligibility criteria. Other job duties will consist of administering an interview according to study protocols and entering the questionnaire data into an Excel computer database. The interviewer will also schedule patient participants for follow up visits and assist in tracking efforts. Other job duties may also be available, based on the specific skills and interests of the successful applicant. Required Qualifications: • Ability to establish rapport and work effectively with individuals of different ethnicities, socio-economic status, caste, gender, and sexual orientation • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills • Organized and detail oriented • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Evidence of functioning well on a team • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule • Ability to communicate fluently in Kannada and English Preferred Qualifications: Educational requirements: • Master's degree in an appropriate social science discipline (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, etc.) or equivalent training for interviewers conducting quantitative survey •Previous interviewing experience • Previous administrative experience • Previous experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Word, experience with MS Excel an advantage • Knowledge of either Tamil or Telugu. Salary: Rs.10,000 to 13,000/- depending on qualification and experience. Duration of employment: 12 months.
