Guest guest
<<<Since we are a military family, we rarely receive the best of care or advice, but definitely never consistent care. >>>> Hi Tammy, I can certainly relate to that. We are a Navy family stationed in CT. I must say that the care my son has gotten since we've been here is terrific, but when we were out West it was awful. Our 6 1/2 year old son is severe to profound and we are trying to see if he qualifys for a cochlear implant. This is a great list and I have learned so much from all the people on here. Also, the owner of this list is part of a military family and can really explain things if you ever have questions about any of the processes. She really helped me out when we were going thru the military for our sons personal FM. Where are you all stationed? Take care, --- TKWOOD1988@... wrote: > Leon, > You have my interest now. Guest guest
> are a military family, we rarely receive the best of > care or advice, You had to bring this up today? JD had 2 appointments today. One at 9 and one at 10:40. We should have been out of there by 11:30 at the latest. Well, things being as they are, it took us till 3:30. All we were doing was getting a cast changed and having a 10 minute consult with the geneticist. I'm keeping this short, but I am very frustrated right now. Guest guest
3:30?? That is ridiculous!!! Did you file a complaint with the CO of the hospital?? I dont know how it works in the AF but here you file a complaint with the clinic you were seen in and then you send one to the CO of the hospital. That is unbelievable Kay!! --- Listen-Up! wrote: > > are a military family, we rarely receive the best > of > > care or advice, > > You had to bring this up today? JD had 2 > appointments today. Guest guest
> 3:30?? That is ridiculous!!! Did you file a complaint > with the CO of the hospital?? Unfortunately, I don't think it would do much good. The Ortho clinic was behind by 2 hours because of a trauma case that came in and tied up the orthopedic team. They couldn't see JD in time for the new cast to be completed before our appointment in genetics so they told us to go to genetics then come back. Seems that the Orthopedics clinic is closed between 11 & 1 for lunch and rounds. We did get to go on back when they opened again, but then we had to wait for the cast to come off, wait for x-rays, wait to go back to the casing room, wait for the doc to read the x-rays, wait for the tech to come in, wait for someone to critique her cast (a student-eek!), wait for the doc to talk to us. At least JD got to have lunch with his dad in JD's favorite place to eat - the chow hall (there's no accounting for some people's tastes). ;-) The main problem with a lot of what goes on (or doesn't - as the case may be) is that this AF med center is one of the trauma centers for the city. Since the city hasn't pay the AF for their services for years (they had contracted to reimburse the AF for their services), much of the trauma in the city goes to Big Willy or BAMC (the Army med center). In a city as large as San , that's a lot of trauma. When something ties up the surgeons for hours, delays happen. Oh well. Hugs, Kay
Guest guest
I am with you on the medical care. We live in an outlying community and have one hospital for the military. We go through the hurry up and wait over and over again. It is most frustrating when you have a 2 year old who isn't patient to begin with but you also can't take other siblings. Talk about babysitting costs... And student doctors...argh...a nightmare. My oldest daughter has a vascular disorder. When we lived at Hood, they always wanted us to go to BAMC so they could " teach " the students. The students would see her and ask me what they were supposed to do. At the very end, the doc would come in and ask me how they did. HMMmmmm.... Tammy
Guest guest
Hi , We are currently stationed in Kitzingen Germany. The army just made some changes with my husbands job. So we may have to move in January. We don't know yet but this sure gets old. The girls and I have only been here 7 months. We were supposed to be here until next July. Now who knows. We are trying to get champus to provide us with an fm system for home. The hospital managed to get one for their clinic. We are going to use it until we can get one. Hopefully, the approval will go through. I know how some people feel about all the little costs here and there. We have to pay for the ear molds, the boots for the fm system, any thing else that is extra because otherwise we would have to wait for the approval constantly. Anyway, I am happy to do it but it does nickel and dime you to death. Take care. Tammy
Guest guest
hi. at 19 after my dad passed away i gained from like 190 all the way up to like 255 in just 3 months and i didnt even know i had gained weight until i went to go try on clothes for school. i didnt lose the weight until i was about 24 or 25 and that was in 2001. so right now i am the smallest i have ever been. i was a size 26 and now i am at 16. i want to try to get to be at 150 or 160 but i am losing so slowly now as compared before. right now i am at 187. i did get at 178 but i gained it back. that is great that you lost 80 pounds also. it has been so hard. i just feel like a failure cause i havent been able to lose the rest of my weight and plus i havent finished school. i am going to try to do that though. all we can do is keep trying. also it seems like when i lost it before i was more determined than i am now. we just have to keep trying and stay positive. talk to u later good luck with your weight loss tammy In weightlossbuddies2 , Gena Grunwald <auroragg@m...> wrote: > Tammy, > I didn't get to reply to your first post but I wanted to be sure to > this time. Guest guest
Well said, Gena. Life happens... and give yourself credit the good stuff you did. Then smack yourself and jump back onto the the way you want to do things. It's SOOOO easy to focus on our failures and not our successes. We're used to looking at ourselves as weak... but everytime you do something good, take some credit. Brag to us about it! Every step brings you closer to where you want to be. Now get back to work! > > > Tammy, > > > I knew I remembered you! I remember you talking about your dad. I'm > > so > > > glad to hear you are doing better, doing fantastic that is!
