VRA vs Behavioral testing

I wrote recently with some questions, any input would be appreciated. What is

considered progressive? How much additional loss in what time frame? I am

asking because we just had testing done for (3 1/2 yrs) and it looks on

paper that his hearing has deteriorated 40 - 50 db in some frequencies. This

is the first time though that we have used conditioned response with ear

phones. had to put a block in a bucket when he heard the tone. Before

this (and months ago as well) he had just looked to the right or left in a

sound booth to see the toys light up. Anyway the audiologist will retest

in 3 weeks. But, she said don't panic we don't know if it is a change in

hearing or just the new test. was really on task and concentrating.

He tested well and didn't tire until toward the end when they did bone

conduction. I was under the impression that these tests were more accurate

than the old visual reinforcement audiometry. If so, could the VRA (right??)

have been that off? Is it that subjective that his hearing is really severe

and not moderate?

Have any of you had this experience?
