Guest guest
Yes you are right. Depending how hard it spasms, depends on how much it hurts. I have learned to use all my concentration to lessen the spasm, but if it goes full force it causes all the muscles to tighten pretty hard, the tendons stretch too tight, and now the nerves are involved and there are these electrical type of zingers. I can take my muscle relaxant and it eases those. I never like taking them because then it makes my muscles too weak and it becomes a catch 22. Plus it makes me too dopey. Litterly! My Mom has trouble with spasms and intense pain at night. I wonder if this is similar? HUGS, Challis Can't figure this ! Hi everyone,... ....I had something happen to me for the entire night last night while I was trying to sleep, and I have had this symptom while awake, but not while sleeping and so many times. Maybe someone here experiences the same thing and can tell me what it is and if its MS related? If I have been laying in bed still for awhile when I try to move, my right leg would stretch out straight and all the muscles from my foot to my hip would go rigid lasting just a single cycle, maybe 10 to 20 secs., and then it would relax and I could move it and get up. Its gotten so bad that it twists my foot to the point where it is constantly swollen I think from damage to the tendons and ligaments. I also have this happen in my right arm now, and my hand will curl under and sideways. Its not as intense as the leg. Now its starting in my left leg a little bit, and I have had it spread up to my upper torso if its a strong longer stretch. Last night in bed every time I moved I'd have one of these happen. Kept waking me up, and as soon as I relaxed it seemed to take hold again. Does anyone know what this is? I've mentioned it to my Dr., but she doesn't know either. Is it an MS thing? and if so is there a name for it besides spasticity? I take a muscle relaxant, and my pain meds like usual before bed, so there isn't any change from that routine. I'm really hoping this isn't going to be a nightly thing because I don't know what causes it and what will prevent it. I can't up my meds because I've got some intolerance issues, and have to take small doses. So does this sound familiar to anyone? Guest guest
Was my Mom able to get a hold of you, Jackie? I told her about this and she said it was like what she deals with. And that's part of her MS. She was concerned about you and knowing how you do with meds for pain didn't help that worry. <g> HUGS, Challis Can't figure this !
