Guest guest
Hi folks, I had a fluorascopy last week that triggered a flare up. I'm back on the intro, but has anyone had this procedure before? I guess the barium chalky concoction they had me drink must have been full of illegals. Does anyone know what is in that? I was perfectly fine until I had this procedure! and the procedure was totally unnecessary! urgg.. Thanks, Sheena UC - 8 yrs SCD - 9 months p.s. Guest guest
Hey Sheena, Well I searched some and had a hard time figuring out the ingredient list, but I did find a case study in th New England Journal of Medicine about an allergic reation to the carboxymethycellulose contained in the contrast. Maybe other, wiser minds here could tell us if this is an illegal. It sure sounds like one having cellulose in it, but I know the micro cellulose in my sleeping pill is OK so--- Good Luck, and I hope your flare ends soon-- UC 1/08 SCD 12/
Guest guest
Thanks !! The barium drink was sweet so perhaps there was sugar in it. And I'm sure there were all sorts of illegal starches in it. Anyway, I do not recommend doing this procedure unless it is necessary. They conducted it for me because they wanted to make sure I had UC and not Crohns.
