Depends, I think, on what they're doing. In my case, the lower is

bilateral saggital split osteotomy.

Upper can be maxillary impaction, Le Fort I, II (or III?). Work on

chin can be genioplasty.

Is that what you mean?

If you'll go to the bookmarks, or to the geocities site, you'll find

a lot of other sources of names of procedures. If they're working on

the upper, it's maxillary, I believe, and the lower is mandibular.

Mark,

I'm not sure what the combined term is but my son had upper and lower

jaw surgery on June 4th and these are the diagnosis and procedures

submitted to the insurance company:

Diagnosis -

Apertognathia

Vertical Maxillary Excess

Mandibular Asymmetry

Mandibular Prognathism

Procedures -

Lefort I Osteotomy

Bilateral Mandibular Sagittal Split

Bottom line - he couldn't close his teeth together because of an

acute angle of growth of his jaw, thus a functional defect that made

it extremely difficult for him to eat. Two weeks post-op he is doing

very well. Good luck.

Mark,

A follow up to my first reply, the upper jaw work is the Lefort I

Osteotomy and the lower jaw work is the Bilateral Mandibular Sagittal

Split.
