Guest guest
Another thing I didn't mention... R. also used testosterone cream to increase the size of his penis. He was only about 8 pounds at 1 year old, and that's when his first surgery was. 2nd hypospadius surgery was at about 2 years old, 3rd at 3. now we are DONE!! Even with follow-ups!!! Sue R. Guest guest
Hi , Debby, and Meribeth, I read everyone's e-mails before I responded to this one. had a hypospadias, pretty much summed up what a hypospadias is. had a second degree Hypospadias. His pee-pee (also excuse the non-med. term.) cane out at the base of the scrotum, where the penis and the scrotum connected. He had three surgeries to repair it, the first was to move the skin around ( also the testosterone cream), the second one they placed a tube in and stitched the smallest stitches you have ever seen around it, when it had healed the tube was removed and the urethra was there. 's third surgery was to repair a festula that developed at the base of his penis, the Dr. said this was not uncommon because of the tenderness of the skin and the dampness in that area, it's so thin the stitches sometimes pull out. Does/did anyone else have to diolate the opening after the surgeries? We had to diolate once a day to keep the opening from scaring down, it was the worst part of the whole experience. did have to be put to sleep for a test way before all of these major surgeries and his lungs collapsed after he was put to sleep. Don't worry to much about this happening to your children though had some pretty severe lung problems at birth and was around 9 months old before this happened. We did wait until was about three before we started with the Hypospadias repairs, the Dr. wanted him to be a little bigger. I think it was Meribeth who asked about the size and functions after the surgeries. is doing every thing very well, of course he hasn't tried EVERYTHING yet, but he can (water) the flowers and about anything else that is in his way when he decides to aim at something. I'm assuming this is a typical boy thing. We have a good natured dog that is the target about every time I get out of the car after school. How gross, but the dog doesn't seem to mind. ( Don't worry we live in the country , no neighbors too close). As far as size goes, is small, but he is in proportion for the rest of his body. Let us know if there are anymore questions, there are several other boys on the list that have had hypospadias repairs, I'm sure between all of us we can answer about any quest you may have. If you would be more comfortable you can always e-mail me directly at danna5@... . Danna , mom to Carol 13, 10 and 4.
