Guest guest
Hello, I’ve been on the SCD for a few months and I’m doing alright. But, I miss my salty snacks like pretzels, chips, and popcorn… Whole Foods has great dried vegetable snacks called carrot chips and green beans. The only ingredients are the vegetables and the salt…and an illegal ingredient that this a thickener! I tried to make the carrot chips in the oven but they didn’t come out right. I’ve invested in the yogurt maker and the ice cream maker, but not the Excalibur Dehydrator. Will the dehydrator help me make these types of veggie snacks? I now salt isn’t the best thing but any recipes for snacks similar to what I described? Thanks, Donna
Guest guest
I was given a bag of those and--awesome until I realized they weren't legal which I was eating some as I read the label. Just going from the front, it was dehydrated pea pods or something and ok. That was a long time ago, I wonder how on earth you could reproduce that at home--if anyone knows. I haven't been able to keep carrot chips crunchy long after making them. I did yellow squash and dried them in the oven and it turned out a lot better. I used sea salt. I ate them all the same night and haven't had them since (bad idea) :-). Hopefully someone has tips on how to keep veggie chips or some other chips crunchy. Guest guest
Hi Donna: Fried pork skins with only salt is what I use to calm my cravings. I haven't made any dips but I bet they'd make great chips. Misty Kimble Louisiana CD - no meds SCD - 4 monthsDonna wrote: Hello, I’ve been on the SCD for a few months and I’m doing alright.
