I have been on the diet now for 12 days. I have been having severe

pains though so the other day I went to the e.r. to see if there was

something wrong, which they discovered was only my colitis (and they

said my colon looked extremely good for not having been on the

medicine for awhile! so the diet seems to be working!) They gave me

an enema along with Asacol (at a low dosage because it bothers my

stomach) and I have the hardest time using it. For one thing, I have

a bm as soon as i have used half of it. And last night I tried it on

an empty stomach and I think more of it was able to stay in, but I had

the hardest time sleeping because my stomach was empty all night, and

it hurt. I have been having a hard time eating enough on this diet as

it is, because of my colon pains, and so I don't know that I can

afford to have an empty stomach all night. Besides the fact that it

makes sleeping very difficult. Does anyone have advice? I'm supposed

to take two a day and I have no idea how I am supposed to take one

during the day and not have a bm? Can anyone help?

My advice would be to try to keep the ememas in as long as you can and really try to do the two a day, lying down for about an hour. They can really help as I use them to treat my UC when having a flare up. If I do between 2-3 a day for a week or two straight, I return to normal with no blood and totally formed BM. But I can't miss a day. My other thought for you is to dump out about half of the medicine and try doing half at a time, maybe this would be easier to start with.If you're flaring bad, then they are hard to keep in but hopefully as you improve on the diet, you will be able to retain them longer.AddieUC 8yrs.SCD 2 months.gr82bgodsgrl wrote: I have been on the diet now for 12 days.
