Empathizing with you, Baden.

Just a few notes from my own experience. If I eat food which has been in the refrigerator for more than two days, often it's the bacteria which bothers me. Also, I need to watch how often I eat a food [although right now, I'm not doing very well with that].

I can have delayed reactions to foods, so sometimes it's difficult to tell what is causing symptoms, so removing the food for four days and only testing it once during the next five days, can help. Now if only I can make myself do that!

Weather, pesticide spraying, and other chemical exposures all affect me. Right now there is a lot of pesticide spraying. Some of the natural insecticides which are used at this time of year attack the digestive system of moths and can affect our digestive systems and CNS.

And of course, good ol' stress. :-)

Healing seems to have it's ups and downs! I suggest going very slowly with probiotics, unless he has no trouble with them.

BTW I ordered Gut and Psychology yesterday!

hang in there,

Louise

I keep doing this early stage list and my kid keeps cycling through his symptoms. Like I said the other day, he'll eat the same stuff, then have a great poop, sleep peacefully all night, play happily all day. Then he'll eat the same list of foods, get bloated, constipated, fussy, crabby, miserable, and sleep fitfully (which is what he did for the first three years of his life). And I am aware right now that I just want to throw in the towel --that if the only difference we're getting from all this bloody work is that two out of seven days are easygoing...It doesn't help that I've been waiting over three weeks --and are told we may be waiting two more-- for our book and probiotics --in hopes the latter would help-- to come from an online supplier. (I could have WALKED to the supplier faster than that!!)Right now I am daydreaming of feeding him wheat bread and candy 'til then!!! At least he'd STOP WHINING TODAY.Daycare starts in one minute...Daycare starts in one minute...Daycare starts in one minute... Baden

Baden,Are you a member of pecanbread?I imagine that the mom's there or the moderator's might have insight into similar problems in the early stages of the diet. It could be die-off - in a different part of his intestine - butthat is just a guess. And I am aware right now that I just want to throw in the towel --that if the only difference we're getting from all this bloody work is that two out of seven days are easygoing...Still, it's better than 0 out of 7.Plus all the developmental advances he made early on that you related. Hi , Mara, and Louise,Thank you so much to each of you for your (on and off-list) notes.: I am a single parent, yes --but I'm a mom, not a dad :) After having had my son on the diet for most of four months, I joined

him in it --because although I've never had a bowel disorder, I share

his cognitive manifestations. My son is napping right now and I'm rabidly collating all the constipation protocols and tips posted at pecanbread. (Mara, I just joined that list today, thinking the same thing you did.)I'm feeling hopeful right now --the constipation info is really

helpful. I'm learning on the site that some people have constipation

--in fact DEVELOP a brand new issue of constipation-- regardless of

doing SCD 'just so'. Some of the info points to yeast imbalance, so I'm

going to take him in that direction and see what happens. I might give

him a suppository tonight just so he and I can have one good night and

day --enough to energize us enough to make some more soup, etc.

As proof that I am a mom, not a dad ;), I can tell you that your note, ,

about early detox/instability being 'PMS x 200' really sunk in because I am PMS today and if my kid

is feeling 200x worse than this, he deserves all the support I can

muster!!

As soon as he gets up, I'll stick him in the stroller and run for any

constipation supplies locally available. (Currently in the midst of waiting 3-5 weeks for

probiotics puts me off trying to order the S. boulardii online!)Needless to say, I don't feel like throwing in the towel anymore. The look in his eyes early morning and pre-nap were so painfully reminiscent of what he was like 22/7 pre-SCD. It shreds my heart to see him suffering from the gut, not knowing why, and indirectly begging mommy to make the ouch go away.

Thanks to those of you that wrote notes. MUCH, MUCH APPRECIATED.
