Guest guest Posted January 29, 2008 Report Share Posted January 29, 2008 Job Title: Officer - Corporate Outreach & Training Location: Bangalore, Karnataka Reports to: Project Manager Works with: Team Leader Workplace Programs, Manager Workplace Programs, Work Place Coordinators (WPCs)of partner associations, Master Trainers from partner companies from each district, Corporate Outreach team, other CONNECT CO managers, PSI/AVAHAN field teams in Karnataka Context: An experienced team of reputed organisations is implementing a programme entitled ‘Connect’ to leverage public-private partnership in HIV/AIDS. The Connect team led by Population Services International (PSI) includes the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Y.R. Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education (YRG-CARE) and Karnataka Health Promotion Trust (KHPT). Financial support for the five year project (Oct 2006-Sept 2011) is provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). A key focus on this program is to implement work-place HIV/AIDS programs in Karnataka and in Coastal AP. Position Purpose: Facilitate the initiation, implementation and ongoing support of HIV/AIDS intervention with the formal and informal workforce in Karnataka. This is an exciting position for an individual who enjoys new challenges and creating new interventions. Responsibilities: Recruitment of companies Work with organizations (chambers, associations, govt departments) to acquire database of companies. Build the capacities of partner associations (FICCI, Labour Dept etc) to undertake mapping of towns / locations for identifying the target companies. Contact companies (directly and also through partner associations) and present Connect to enrol them for workplace intervention. Training & Support Visits Co-ordinate with partner associations to organise and conduct training programmes on HIV/AIDS workplace issues with company managers, workers’ and employers’ organization leaders. Train and provide on-going support for WPCs* of partner associations to conduct WPI trainings in the companies Monitor WPCs on the job and provide feedback Train WPCs and facilitate Support Visits in each company Continue implementation of training of new and existing companies * Work Place Coordinators of partner associations Mobilisation/Advocacy Advocacy with companies, employers’ and workers’ organizations to adopt HIV/AIDS workplace policy and programmes. Facilitate continuous dialogue between partner associations and top management of the companies for smooth implementation of workplace intervention Facilitate partner associations to identify and nurture industry “Champions” for mobilizing support for the program. Monitor on-field linkages with VCT / STI / ART / DOT / TB diagnostic centres & HIV / AIDS Care & Support organisations Management Establish a monitoring system for partner associations in consultationwith Core Office Work closely with the partner associations and ensure that reporting & documentation are in place Develop work plan for the district in consultation with the Connect Core Office. Coordinate activities with the PSI/Avahan state office. Develop a two way feedback and review mechanism between partner companies / organizations / master trainers / NGOs and partner associations. Provide periodic feedback to Connect core office based on the feedback process institutionalised by core office. Any other job / assignment that has been assigned by the supervisor Essential requirements of the position: Should ideally have a Masters degree in social sciences or related subject Should have at least two years of working experience on the issue of HIV/AIDS. Experience in conducting training sessions on HIV/AIDS required Confidence to interact efficiently with top management of companies and labour union leaders Willing to travel in Karnataka Female candidates are encouraged to apply Candidates who are fluent in Kannada (read, write and speak) in addition to good command of English language need ONLY apply.
