Guest guest
Hey all, Can someone please resend the email with the address for the information on anemia. I erased mine by mistake after I read it. Also, with anemia, I am taking slow release iron (60 mg), and I am still kept awake from my pounding heart, although I am no longer bleeding and bruising like I was before the iron supplements. Is anyone else out there suffering from lack of sleep due to a pounding heart? Also, I notice that a lot of people are associating the bone pain with lupron, I am having intermitent bone pain throughout the day, and last night I woke up with my knee in tremendous pain (the back of it was ice cold, go figure). Is this a hormonal symptom? I feel like I am deteriorating rapidly and it is very disconcerting. I had been running five miles a day with a pulse rate of 44 while resting prior to the anemia and fibroids. Jeez, that seems like a lifetime ago. Thanx, any feedback on this would be appreciated. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hello , When I read your message that mentioned a pounding heart, it immediately caught my attention. I have had the same problem, and since I am also anemic from the bleeding, I wondered if the pounding heart is one of the symptoms of anemia. That would sure make me feel better to know it's from lack of iron, and not so much a problem with my heart! If you or anyone else has any info on this topic, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks! Guest guest
A pounding heart is definitely a sign of anemia. I had a pounding heart and breathlessness upon even the slightest exertion for a while. I kept avoiding the issue. My gyn sent me for a blood count after I told him that I was bleeding a lot and the result showed that I was severely anemic. The heart is working overtime trying to get oxygen throughout the system and that is why you feel it pounding. I strongly recommend that anyone who has a pounding heart and/or breathlessness get tested for anemia before you faint and possible end up needing a transfusion. My gyn told me that I was a hair away from needing a transfusion. nne > Hello , > > When I read your message that mentioned a pounding heart, it immediately > caught my attention. Guest guest
I was never seriously anemic, but I woke up with heart palpitations for years. I thought it was just a symptom of peri-menopause. I have had very few since I had my UAE last October. I never associated any of this with iron. gr Anemia > > > > Hey all, > > > > Can someone please resend the email with the address > > for the information on anemia. Guest guest
Hi , , and other fellow anemics who've recently joined. A pounding, racing heart is a symptom of anemia. Your blood can't carry enough oxygen to meet demand, so your heart works extra hard to circulate quickly what little oxygen your blood can carry. Go to Post #20076 for the websites you asked for. Also try searching the archives -- type in anemia, iron, controlling bleeding, and the like. There have been a bunch of posts on anemia. Some have great advice for how to get iron back in your body - kelp, Floradix, and other supplements besides prescription pills. If you're truly anemic from a deficiency of iron, don't worry about taking too much iron just yet. It'll be several weeks at the very least before your iron stores start returning to normal, if you're not bleeding. Be careful when you take your pills/supplements. The tannin in black tea and calcium decrease absorption of iron. Make sure you're getting more fiber too, as extra iron will likely constipate you. , I understand how you feel. I used to run and had a low resting heart rate too. I was pretty scared when the gusher periods suddenly started in November, my heart raced even while resting, all the other anemia symptoms showed up -- but I had no idea yet what anemia was or that I had a fibroid. Thank heavens for this group! I've been taking a 324 mg prescription Ferrous Sulfate pill 3xs a day since Feb when I my first blood test confirmed anemia. The first month showed big improvement; the second month not, so I tried Floradix. I felt better in a few days; I think the iron in Floradix is more absorbable. However, not until a few weeks ago I felt like I finally broke through the anemia barrier -- I could sustain jogging for a whole 15 minutes! I'm also on BCPs continuously so I've been blissfully period-free since Feb. I'm sorry I can't say why your knee hurts. Maybe we injure more easily and take longer to heal with anemia? Take care, Ellen > Hello , > I am also anemic from the bleeding, I wondered if the pounding heart is one of the symptoms of anemia.
