I wonder why. I was on a website that uses chestnut flour in a lot of

sweet baked goods because it's supposed to be a naturally sweet nut. Do

you know why the flour is illegal?

(Copied and Pasted from BTVC legal/illegal list)

Chestnut flour Illegal

Chestnuts Legal May be tried when symptom free. However, if you buy

dried chestnuts, soak them and cook them until soft.

Could it be because the flour is like many times more concentrated? This is the case with flours made from many root vegetables so maybe it also applies to chestnuts? Just a thought...

Hi Misty,This is from the BTVC website 'Knowledge Base' Elaine writes:

When you have progressed quite a bit on the diet and are on your

way

towards recovery, you can try them. Chestnut flour is not legal.

However, if you buy dried chestnuts, soak them and cook them until

soft.

You can then use them for stuffing and other things. Rabbi Rosenbaum

in

Jerusalem who published my book in Hebrew was so particular that

he had a

full 3-4 pages of analysis on cooked, raw, roasted, etc. chestnuts.

It is

just common sense to realize that once you boil something which has

some

starch in it, it will become so water-soaked that the weight will

be

mostly water and the tiny bit of starch is diluted way down.Hope that answers your question.Take care,Kim H. Chestnuts Legal (after symptom free), Chestnut flour Illegal ????

Thanks for the responses. I guess the flour is illegal because it has too much concentrated starch in it like another person (sorry, I went deleting happy yesterday) wrote and that is why it is illegal. I had read the information below before I made my post and it didn't explain why it was illegal. But, again, thanks for your post and I guess I'm just going to stay away from it.
