I am wondering whether it might be a Fallow Deer, about one-quarter of whom

are white--normal for them.

I've never heard of a Fallow Deer. Does that mean it's a mixed-breed deer, or just another breed of deer? Love and blessings... Val wrote: I am wondering whether it might be a Fallow Deer, about one-quarter of whomare white--normal for them.typing out loud again,nOn Jan 3, 2008 5:09

http://www.solaswebdesign.net/wordpress/?cat=5 If this link works,

it will show a photo of a fallow deer faun and of a mature fallow deer

buck, with PALMATED antlers, that is more like a long narrow hand

than any other deer. These deer are also related to Axis deer.

The white version of the Fallow Deer does NOT have red or pink

eyes and is not an albino. The Fallow deer, which originate in

the middle east, come in spotted forms, and in white, reddishbrown,

grey, light brown and even black; BUT they all have PALMATED

Antlers.

I hope the link works; if not, let me know and I will find one that does,

though this was the best that I found.

Love,

n, the total nature-nut!

n~ I went to the link and scrolled down untill I saw a picture that looked like the deer I saw. I suppose it could very well have been a fallow deer. The one I saw had no spots. It was pure white. And like I said before, I wasn't close enough to see the eyes. I guess in California, these deer are becoming extict because there is a plea to save them. I can certainly see why, they are beautiful. Thanks for the link. Hope you are having a great day. Love and blessings... Fallow deer are very rare in the Americas, and have been brought

here, on rare occasions to zoos or by private land-owners, which

is the only reason we have them out in Point Reyes Peninsula,

about one hour+ from me. The spots disappear and are not usually

present anyway: they come in white, ivory, tan, beige, reddish brown,

light brown and mixed brown and black and black, to be more accurate.

The white deer are stunning. Save for the photo that I sent, I have never

personally seen a white Fallow buck with full antlers until that photo

that I sent. I am just grateful to have enough vision to drive and to

enjoy what I see--due for new glasses next month!

Love to you, Val,

and to all in our group,

n, the total Nature Nut
